Julie received her Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University Wisconsin Eau Claire.  She spent 10 years in hospital, rehab centers and private practice before bringing the speech practice to functional kids in 2001. Julie enjoys working with children of all abilities.  Her areas of special interest include: autism, apraxia of speech, oral motor and feeding problems. She loves working with children and their families and finds nothing more rewarding than helping a child find their voice. 

Julie has two boys and a big dog named Bob.  In her free time, Julie enjoys biking, skiing, playing baseball and spending time with her familiy and friends.

Kelly Jaeschke

Kelly received both her bachelor and master's degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and has been working in the field for 16 years.  She started her career working with adults with developmental disabilities and has been working in pediatrics for the past 12 years.  Areas of special interest include: auditory processing disorders, receptive/expressive language skills, pragmatic language development, augmentative/alternative communication, oral-motor skills development, and PROMPT.  She is also interested in the areas of bonding and attachment as she is an adoptive parent.

Anna Begley

When Anna’s three children were young she returned to school and received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology from the University of Illinois-Edwardsville in 1999.  She has worked in long term care, school, and birth-to-three settings, and has been with the pediatric population for most of her years of service.  Her areas of interest include oral-motor issues related to speech articulation and feeding, articulation, phonological awareness, apraxia of speech, and expressive and receptive language.   Anna has been with Functional Kids Clinic since 2008. In 2011 she accepted the opportunity to integrate Functional Kids speech practice with the professional services at Points of Stillness in Hudson, WI.

Krista Spanier

Krista received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Spanish and International Relations from the University of Minnesota. During that time, she spent a semester interning in Quito, Ecuador as well as a semester studying in Sevilla, Spain. After graduating, she worked with Spanish speaking families in the St. Paul School District for 5 years. While there, she happily discovered the field of speech-language pathology and returned to the Univeristy of Minnesota to complete a Master's Degree in Speech - Language Pathology with a bilingual, multicultural emphasis. That was 7 years ago. Krista has since enjoyed working with children in public school, non-profit and private practice settings. Areas of special interest include: communication disorders in diverse populations, auditory processing disorders, receptive/expressive language skills, oral-motor skills development, and literacy.

Melanie SanMiguel

Melanie earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She started her career working for a non-for profit organization in Missouri and then worked in the Connecticut public school system for four years prior to joining the Functional Kids Clinic team.  Areas of special interest include: phonological processing disorders, phonological awareness, expressive/receptive language disorders, early childhood language development and language development in culturally and linguistically diverse populations, fluency, and apraxia of speech. During her free time, she enjoys being active (playing tennis, rock climbing, biking) and traveling.

Brooke Ghanbarzadeh

Brooke received her bachelor’s degree at The University of Wisconsin-Madison and master’s degree from The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.  She has worked in pediatric outpatient clinics for the last 4 years.  Brooke's areas of interest include the SOS approach to feeding, PROMPT, Lindamood-Bell’s Seeing Stars and Visualizing and Verbalizing programs, The Greenspan Floor-time Approach, and early childhood language development.  She enjoys the outdoors, taking pictures, reading, and working with children to help them achieve their fullest potential.  

Ashley McCormick

Ashley received her Bachelors degree in Communicative Disorders at University of Wisconsin - Madison and Masters degree at University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point.  She enjoys working with the children as well as their families to develop a strong relationship to help make the most progress possible.  Ashley's areas of interest include Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), PROMPT technique, video self-modeling, various pragmatic interventions, and early child language development.  In her spare time, she enjoys running, biking, hiking, cooking, and watching different sporting events.

Andrea

Andrea "Dre" Kane

Andrea received her Master of Communication from University of Wisconsin River Falls in 2003. She has experienced working with adolescents and adults in a day program setting for 3 years and a pediatric clinics for 5 years before coming to Functional Kids. She also works in Skilled Nursing Facilities/Long-Term Care Facilities as an on-call therapist. Andrea has training in PROMPT, SOS Feeding, PECS (basic) and some ASL (American Sign Language). She enjoys working with children of varying disabilities and helping them find their strengths in communicating. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children.

Melanie received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Hamline University. After graduating, she worked with children in an Autism day treatment setting for 3 years. She received her master’s degree in Communicative Disorders at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She worked in pediatric outpatient clinics for 4 years before joining the Functional Kids team. Melanie’s areas of interest include the SOS approach to feeding, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), apraxia of speech, phonological processing disorders and early childhood language development. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors.

Colleen Woyach

Colleen graduated with a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where she also completed coursework to receive a certificate in Bilingual and Multicultural Education. During her undergraduate education, Colleen attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and double majored in Saxophone Performance and Communication Sciences and Disorders. Within the areas of speech-language pathology, Colleen is especially interested in Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) because she loves helping children to find their voice through alternative and augmentative means. Additionally Colleen is intrigued by the intersection of music therapy and speech-language pathology. She enjoys collaborating with not only music therapists, but other professionals as well, to help children reach their full potential.

Amberly received her bachelor degree in speech, language, and hearing sciences from Northern Michigan University and her master's degree from the University of Wisconsin- River Falls. Her areas of interest are mainly in the areas of language and cognition. In her spare time, Amberly enjoys reading, kayaking, and cooking.
